In a strategic move to enhance Auburn’s offensive capabilities, head coach Hugh Freeze has appointed Derrick Nix as the team’s offensive coordinator and running backs coach. Nix, a seasoned coach with extensive experience in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), previously served as the wide receivers coach at Ole Miss, where he was a key figure in developing dynamic offenses.

Nix’s appointment is expected to bring a fresh perspective to Auburn’s offensive strategies. His familiarity with SEC defenses and his track record of developing versatile running backs align well with Freeze’s vision for a high-powered, balanced offense.

Coach Freeze expressed confidence in Nix’s abilities, stating, “Derrick is a tremendous coach and an even better person. His experience in the SEC and his ability to develop players make him a perfect fit for our program.”

The decision to bring Nix on board underscores Freeze’s commitment to assembling a coaching staff with deep SEC roots and a shared vision for the program’s future. As the Tigers prepare for the upcoming season, the collaboration between Freeze and Nix is poised to play a pivotal role in the team’s pursuit of success in the highly competitive SEC landscape.
