5-Star OT Jackson Cantwell Decommits, Commits to Clemson Over Georgia, Oklahoma, and Ohio State…

In a major recruiting shakeup, 5-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell has announced his de-commitment from his previous school and his new pledge to the Clemson Tigers. Cantwell, one of the most highly-touted prospects in the 2025 class, chose Clemson over powerhouse programs Georgia, Oklahoma, and Ohio State.
The 6-foot-7, 310-pound offensive tackle from Missouri has been a dominant force throughout his high school career, earning a reputation as a future cornerstone for any college offensive line. Originally committed early in his recruitment, Cantwell decided to reopen his options after taking a closer look at several top-tier programs.
“After much thought and prayer, along with discussions with my family, I have decided to decommit from my previous school and officially commit to Clemson University,” Cantwell announced. “Clemson felt like home the minute I stepped on campus. The coaching staff, the culture, and the opportunity for both personal and athletic growth made this the best decision for my future.”
Cantwell’s recruitment heated up over the past few months, with Georgia pushing hard with their reputation for developing NFL linemen, Oklahoma leveraging strong ties and early playing opportunities, and Ohio State pitching their consistent success in the Big Ten and nationally. However, it was Clemson’s family atmosphere, stability under head coach Dabo Swinney, and strong player development track record that ultimately sealed the deal.
For Clemson, landing Cantwell is a massive win — and a statement that the Tigers continue to recruit at an elite national level. Cantwell is expected to compete early for a starting role once he arrives in Death Valley and could anchor Clemson’s offensive line for years to come.
With this commitment, Clemson’s 2025 recruiting class gains a huge boost and further solidifies their standing as one of the top classes in the nation. Meanwhile, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Ohio State will now have to look elsewhere to fill a critical need on their future rosters.
